What do residents of the Hungarian–Croatian border region expect from the RenewMap app?

In the summer of 2026, as part of the RenewMap project, we conducted a survey of internet users in the Hungarian-Croatian border region with the assistance of IPSOS. The aim of the research was to assess the public’s knowledge and expectations regarding an app designed to support investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Survey results show strong support for the energy transition in both countries, but respondents also identify high investment costs and limited financing as major barriers.

Solar energy is viewed as the most promising local opportunity on both sides of the border. Respondents want digital tools to provide clear and trustworthy information on potential energy savings, payback periods and investment costs.

It is clear from the expectations regarding the app that the display of expected energy savings, investment costs and payback period are the most important factors. In addition, it was requested that the app provide locally relevant information on renewable energy options, as well as practical guidance and easy-to-understand maps and diagrams.
